Manmade wetlands will be constructed for the purpose of biologically “polishing” recycled water, using types of vegetation that, together with microbes, will degrade and remove pollutants from the water.
The wetlands and filtration ponds will support indigenous aquatic and bird life and will be established areas such that it provides access to passive recreation and nature-based areas for enjoyment. These water containing areas will enhance the eco-tourism and staff recreation facilities in the park.
The LEIP will incorporate a 56 hectare and a 95 hectare dam to store the LEIP’s bulk water, storm-water and treated water for re-use by all tenants. These dams will also be available for passive enjoyment by staff, under controlled conditions.
